Before I jump into the blind mortises, I have a couple of things to share. First, I’m very excited that Jeff Lefkowitz took on my Temple Chair Handbook and added his graphic design brilliance and organizational prowess to the drawings. We have a last minute opening in the Dave Fisher class coming in March. I can’t say enough about Dave’s work and teaching. I worked for years to bring him to my shop to teach and he absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. His teaching is very limited, don’t miss out.

As promised, here is part one of a video on how I make blind mortises. I’m excited to show this because I see it as a perfect example of the language of chair making. It’s basically a game of connect the dots. Figuring out how to pieces intersect and then finding a way to make the joinery is half the fun, the other half is making the actual parts.
