Before jumping into the drawknife grinding, I want to show you a chair available for purchase. I’m taking a page out of Chris Schwarz’s book and selling this via silent auction. You can bid on this by emailing me at peter@petergalbert.com with the subject line “auction”. I made this Continuous Arm Rocker with a class last year and finished it with walnut hull stain, Arabian Night milk paint, varnish oil and carnuba wax.

I wanted to get a very thin finish, so there are places you can see the undertones and wood slightly exposed. Of course, over the life of the chair, you will see more of this, it’s one of my favorite looks.

I like the sort of metallic glow of the paint with the wood grain clearly visible beneath.

Let me know if you have any questions before you bid.

It’s a silent auction, so just bid what you want and next Monday (June 15th), I’ll contact the winning bidder. The bid includes shipping in the lower 48 or you can pick up the chair at my shop in Maine and I’ll make you a cup of coffee!

Here is the Temple Chair I sold last month on it’s way to it’s new home. I am excited to be finishing chairs and moving them along, it feels wonderful after the last few years of not having time to see pieces all the way to completion.

A quick tip on shipping. I use pipe insulation on the feet to suspend the chair above the floor of the box prior to inserting and fastening the cardboard struts. This helps isolate the piece from the exterior surfaces so the piece is just floating on the inside of the box.
