I’m shooting the last sections of my Temple Chair video and am considering different ways of bringing them to you. I’ve been thinking of using the videos in conjunction with an online class, where we would meet once a week for Q and A for a couple of hours and to plot out the tasks to be completed for the next week. I figure I would break out the 6 day class into 6 weeks. This chair is especially suited to teaching remotely because it can be built with kiln dried wood or green wood and the assembly process is rather direct. The class would include the videos, plans and a handbook.
My other option is to do as I’ve done before and just release the videos on Vimeo on Demand and make the plans, handbook and videos available for purchase separately or as a package. There’s nothing stopping me from releasing the videos both independently and as part of a course, but I’m curious to get your feedback on how you would prefer to receive the information. I like the idea of an extended virtual course because it will make the experience of building a chair with me more accessible to folks who can get away for a week for a standard course or who can’t swing the added expenses of travel, tuition and lodging. Of course, you won’t get as much love from Georgia, so factor that into your decision! I think the course would be fun, but it only makes sense if you are interested in participating, so please let me know.
I’ve opened the comment so to folks who don’t materially support this page to comment as well,
thanks
Pete
I’d do both, and offer course options for those who already bought the videos, plans, and handbook. That way those who like to look through the handbook and videos before attempting the build can enroll when ready.
I love having the videos on Vimeo for reference, but I would definitely sign up for the six week course. Thank you!
