I finished up the refurbishing on the continuous armchair for Lie-Nielsen. Here is a show of the arc of the efforts.

The hands got lots of love and rubbing as you would expect.
After scrubbing with Barkeeper Friend, repainting and 4 coats of oil, here is the finished “refreshing”
I think the toughest part of using Milk Paint isn’t the actual work, it’s the faith that it will work. Letting it dry in between coats of paint and oil takes nerves of steel. Here are a few shots of how this chair looked along the way to shake your nerves.
Below is a shot after starting to oil the chair. Notice how blotchy it looks after even 2 coats of oil. The first coat soaks in, leaving a very uneven surface sheen. I apply the second coat after burnishing lightly with a mirka mirlon pad, which evens it out a bit and the surface starts to build, but it still looks very rough.
