Making shapes in wood is my favorite activity, so sharpening curved tools a critical skill. The concepts involved are the same as flat chisels and plane blades, with slight variations. It’s not as hard as it seems, but will probably take a little practice. Regardless of what I am learning, I start with “do it right” and once I can consistently reproduce results, I move to the “do it fast”. I suggest paying close attention to the changing condition of the edge to assess the actual impact of the abrasives and to dial in the motion.
