or the inshave or whatever you call it, I don’t know. My first scorp was a strip of O-1 tool steel that I bent to a curve and ground one edge. No heat treating and no comfy handles, but it was enough to hog out the wood on the glued up 2X4’s that I was carving. I was desperate to try my hand at carving a seat and getting to work was my priority. I only used it on a few seats and lost it somewhere in a move, but I learned a bunch making and using it. The video below is part one of two about grinding and honing the scorp as well as some of the geometry involved in getting it to cut well.
