I’ve posted the new class on my website for December 2025 through May 2026. I’m happy to have lots of returning instructors, Follansbee, Fisher, Manney and Glenn. I’m also excited to welcome Chris Schwarz into the fold. I know he doesn’t need an introduction, but I want to share why I am so excited to have him teach here. Folks often ask me what I think of Chris’ stick chairs. When they pose the question I always suspect they are hoping to pit me and Chris against each other like bugs in a jar. Chris’ approach to chairmaking is so different than mine, but honestly, I think it’s great. I love his efforts to open up the craft to folks without access to logs and tons of specialized tools. It’s a fine line I try to tread myself. I started experimenting with kiln dried boards (with lots of success) to make chairmaking more possible for my west coast students who don’t have access to the green logs that are so readily available in the east. It’s a great craft, but like all crafts, tools and materials are the key as well as the hurdle. Chris never loses sight of this and his laser focus on practical solutions given todays options is a great service to the craft. Here are the classes I’ve added:
