Your Turning Intensive is just brilliant and the 4 hour video reinforces everything you teach in the class. I can't imagine a more successful class. Thank you from somebody who was always standing in the wrong place!
You will love it and you will learn so very much! I wouldn't dream of calling myself a turner, but I do now know what to do when I am standing in front of the lathe...in the right place!
Well said, Pete. When I was teaching dental students, even more harrowing I might suggest as the things that are being cut have a human head wrapped around them, I used to say that you can read an encyclopedia on the subject of riding a bicycle but it can never replace the understanding that comes with thirty seconds of FEELING oneself riding a bicycle. Such is the case for almost any tricky skill one wants to learn. You did manage to teach me to turn, something for which I remain eternally grateful, but along the way I made a lot of pretty firewood and, happily, the only blood that was seen was my own.
Sounds like Greg Pennington “skew and slice makes everything nice!” That got driven into my head my first class at his place by Travis Curtis. I still have PTSD from that week. I learned to turn from your four hour video. I want to thank you for a great class. It came into my life at the perfect moment. Thank you for you contend and keep up the great work.
That's how I taught my welding apprentices. Start in an uncomfortable position and finish in a comfortable one. Keep yourself balanced and use a relaxed grip on the tool. And don't forget to breath!

I need to take this class.

These are fabulous principles. We all have to find our own way and these are valuable nudges in the right direction. Much appreciated!
Now I want to take your turning class, Peter!
You will love it and Pete will teach you such a deep understanding of the fundamentals...in just two days!
